windy (and coldy and dreary) city

I live in Chicago. It's cold... It's miserable... It's beyond horrifying post Christmakwanzahannuka.

Allow me to entice your senses. Imagine for one moment standing on a bus stop in negative degree frigidness, wearing a stylish standard issue North face floor length bubblewrapesk garment and waiting for a bus to pick you up so you can wait in traffic... ok... I'll stop.

And in the first few moments of reading this blog, the purpose behind its creation is probably becoming apparent. I've decided to start this blog because I find that the majority of my days working on the 22nd floor of a sky rise off the mag mile are spent gazing out of the floor to ceiling windows... past the Hancock... beyond Oak Street beach... staring east.

I'm not a globe trotter by any stretch of the imagination, but most of the places I've loved have been to the east. After college, I spent four months treading Europe solo. I think about my excursions everyday. I think about the people I've met, the stories I've heard. I think about the experiences. I've never felt as alive as I did while traveling. There is something that clicks when one realizes they are not simply a coworker in an office or even a citizen of a country. We are all a part of something much bigger. The thought is so powerful, it's almost too much to take in.

One thing is for certain, I've got the travel bug. So through this blog (which I'm sure you'll be waiting to read on a daily basis) I'll take you step by step through my upcoming travels and plans to travel.... oh... of course.... the interesting part.

I'm broke. I have no plans of becoming rich in the near future either... so don't expect 5 star hotels or even 3 star hostels. I'll be taking short trips first.. so that means, they'll probably be domestic destinations. And while I'm saving up to indulge you in my endeavors, I'll be sharing my stories from travels past.
